I used loads and never even noticed them sitting proud. If its that’s big of an issue then come back after the walls are boarded and cut them in. That way the flange is covered in skim making it flush. Personally I think their cr@p and always put pads in and metal boxes.

Fit it so that its flush with the outside surface of the plasterboard then use foam to "stick" the back box in place. WebDec 14, 2011 · Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on completely removing the back of dry lining boxes to be able to accomodate cable better when it's a tight squeeze and too many cables (for example if you've a three gang switch plate all fed separately from the switch - so that's six cables to terminate).
